FAQ
  • Does it work at my location?
MapleWiFi leverages existing cellular infrastructure to bring high-speed internet to users throughout Canada - including Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, Manitoba, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec and Prince Edward Island. And now, your MapleWiFi service will work in the USA at no extra charge! As long as you can get a 4G LTE signal on a cell phone at your location, you can decent speeds with MapleWiFi. Not sure if you have signal? Click to fill out a coverage check form and a support representative will email you back to confirm. If the service isn't acceptable, we offer a full 7 day money back guarantee where you can return your equipment for a full refund! Truckers / RVers (or other mobile users): We do not restrict the location you use your service. You can move it between homes, cottages or take it with you in your RV or truck, or on vacation - as long as you have cellular coverage, you will have service with us. Our service does not need to be in a fixed location to work. If there is no cell service available in your area, on either of the three major Canadian 4G LTE networks, our service may not work. Have more questions about coverage? Email us at support@maplewifi.com
  • What kind of speeds can I expect?
Speeds will depend on many factors - most importantly signal strength to your closest cell tower. You can get an idea of what speeds your local cell tower is able to support by running a Speedtest on your cell phone while connected to cellular data - you should expect speeds at least as high as what your cell phone is able to get, but there are many users who are able to get much higher speeds. Most users see average speeds between 20 - 80Mbps download, and 10-35Mbps upload, but we don't advertise a specific speed as every location will vary. We don't restrict speeds in any way, it will be the max available on the cell tower closest to you at the time you access the service. If there is no cell service available in the area you are in, on any of the three main Canadian cell networks, our service may not work. Remember, if you aren't happy with your service you can opt to return your equipment for a full refund within 7 days!
  • Your service is expensive - why?
Our service is a mobile internet service that is most comparable to a mobile Internet service from one of the Big Three networks in Canada - Bell Mobile Internet data plan™ or Telus Mobile Internet Plan™ - also known as a Bell Turbo Hub™ or MiFi, or a Telus Smart Hub™ or MiFi. Going directly thru Bell, the highest data package you could get (as they also don't offer unlimited) is 50GB for $150.00/mo (plus $3 for every GB extra) + taxes Going directly thru Telus, the highest data package you could get (as they also don't offer unlimited) is 50GB for $135.00/mo (plus $20 for every extra $10GB) + taxes None of the major carriers offer a plan that provides enough usage for full time internet access. Most households will use more than 400GB a month, and it increases with the more online streaming & internet services you use. Our service is a much better value than signing up with one of the major carriers directly - as you can get Unlimited data for a flat rate cost - with access to the same networks. Also - our service includes taxes and fees in our pricing AND you can cancel and resume at anytime.
  • Is this really unlimited?
Yes, MapleWiFi does not limit your data in any way. Whether you're streaming movies, uploading pictures, or just surfing the web, you can do so without any concerns about going over a data cap. MapleWiFi is committed to providing the best possible experience for our users, and that includes unlimited data. Hosting websites or servers from your MapleWiFi connection is not supported.
  • Do I need to schedule an installation?
No! MapleWiFi internet service is plug-n-play and fully portable. You are not restricted to using it at one location. For large homes, we recommend using a dedicated router with your MapleWiFi modem. While all modems MapleWiFi offers have a built-in WiFi network to connect your devices to, it may not provide a strong-enough WiFi network for large homes. You can connect a dedicated router to your compatible MapleWiFi modem using an Ethernet cable, included with all routers. For mobile users, both devices that we offer can be charged off a 12v USB power supply and can be left plugged in full time.
  • Can I use a hotspot or cellular router I already own with MapleWiFi?
As of January 1st, 2023 MapleWiFi's network runs through Webbing® (iamwebbing.com) Through this partnership, with a single SIM card, MapleWiFi is able to provide connection to users in Canada and in the US - all for one flat rate price. Webbing's network works through a eUICC SIM applet running on the cellular chip of every MapleWiFI hub to facilitate the provisioning of different network operators. As a result, we do not support bring-your-own-device. MapleWiFi provides users with Canadian IP addresses.
  • What is the refund policy?
You’re safe in our hands - MapleWiFi provides a 7 day risk free review period for all new customers. If you are unhappy with your service for any reason, contact us within 7 days of receiving your Hub for a complete refund. We will provide you via email with a prepaid Canada Post return label to return your MapleWiFi modem. After the 7-day review period is over, we can no longer accept refunds on modem hardware. Have more questions about returns or our satisfaction guarantee? Email us at support@maplewifi.com
  • Can I cancel when I am not using the service?
Yes! This is a common request. You can cancel your MapleWiFi unlimited service at anytime, and since it is a prepaid service - your service will automatically stop working at the end of your current usage cycle (31 days) There is no fee to cancel. There is a $25 fee to restart your service if you previously cancelled it, and we may need to send you a new SIM card. Cancellation and restoration of service requests can be made via email at support@maplewifi.com!
